Trek – Week Fourteen

During their time in Trek, clients will spend time reading and meditating on selected Scriptures from the Psalms, Proverbs, along with scriptures that relate to the weekly program teaching themes. It is of help to read the verses before and after the selected passage to get the bigger context of what’s being communicated…

As clients journal about the scriptures, they answer the following four questions in this order::

1. What does this scripture teach me about God? (Ex: God can be trusted, God is faithful, God is not done with me, God cares about the details of my life, etc.)

2. What does this scripture teach me about myself? (Ex: Im more loved than I realize, there is hope for the next chapter of my life, there is forgiveness for my past mistakes, God is pleased with me because of Jesus, etc.)

3. How does this verse apply to my recovery journey? How will the truth of these verses help me as I look ahead to the next chapter of my story? How does this verse relate to/inform how I’ve chosen to cope with my brokenness?, etc. (Ex: I realize I will need wise people around me when I leave, and if I try to do this alone I risk my joy and sobriety; if I’m going to continue growing, I realize my transformation will happen as my mind is renewed, so I need to make plans to ensure my thinking is being evaluated and challenged on a regular basis; etc.)

4. Action Steps: James 1:22-25 tells us it’s possible to deceive ourselves over time if we never apply the truth of what we hear and read. So as you meditate on each verse, take some time to pray and ask God “So God, what do you want me to do with this?” What are some specific ways I can apply this to my life going forward? What would my life look like if I began applying this truth to my life? What needs to change as a result of the truth I just read?”
