Expanding Access to Christ-Centered, Clinically Effective Care:

Why HopeQuest Launched the High-Intensity Outpatient Program (HIOP)

For more than two decades, HopeQuest has walked faithfully alongside men and their families in the pursuit of freedom from substance use and sexual addiction. Our 90-day residential program has served as a trusted path toward long-term recovery, offering Christ-centered, clinically effective care that transforms lives. With thousands of success stories from clients and families, as well as data to back its efficacy, it may seem counterintuitive to introduce a new treatment approach. Yet, in response to evolving needs, HopeQuest recently launched the High-Intensity Outpatient Program (HIOP).

The driving force behind this decision? Flexibility.

Meeting the Needs of Real Life

While our residential treatment program has proven effective, it requires a full-time commitment that some individuals simply cannot make due to professional, familial, or financial responsibilities. The launch of HIOP reflects our commitment to removing barriers to treatment and expanding access to those who need it most.

HIOP is designed to offer the same Christ-centered, clinically effective treatment that defines HopeQuest, but in a way that integrates more seamlessly with daily life. With programming held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., HIOP’s step-down format keeps clients engaged in recovery while allowing them to maintain real-world routines.

Why HIOP?

HopeQuest’s HIOP was developed to address several core objectives:

  • To support recovery that integrates with daily life, work, and family responsibilities.
  • To provide a lower level of care or a shorter treatment commitment for men unable to engage in residential care.
  • To increase accessibility to our signature Christ-centered, clinically effective approach to healing.
  • To extend the reach and impact of the HopeQuest experience.

By offering a high-quality outpatient alternative, we are creating new pathways for individuals previously unable to participate in our traditional programming.

A Distinctive Approach, Delivered Differently

Our treatment philosophy remains unchanged. At the heart of HIOP is the same guiding foundation that makes HopeQuest unique: a blend of clinical excellence and spiritual formation. Clients take part in structured therapy, psychoeducational groups, and spiritual development activities, while also implementing recovery tools in the context of their everyday lives.

Additionally, HIOP encourages personal ownership and autonomy throughout the recovery process. Rather than operating within the protective confines of a residential setting, participants can engage in their recovery with greater independence by building resilience, practicing new behaviors, and navigating real-world challenges with therapeutic support.

Is HIOP the Right Fit?

HIOP may be an ideal fit for individuals who:

  • Require flexibility due to work or family obligations
  • Are seeking a less intensive alternative to residential care
  • Desire greater autonomy in their recovery journey
  • Want to integrate treatment into daily life while receiving strong clinical and spiritual support
  • Might benefit from supportive housing options while attending outpatient programming

Clients in HIOP adhere to a step-down approach, gradually transitioning to fewer treatment hours and greater independence, all while retaining access to HopeQuest’s community and ancillary services.

Opening the Door to More

Since 2001, HopeQuest has remained dedicated to walking with men in their pursuit of hope and freedom. The High-Intensity Outpatient Program enables us to further steward the mission God has placed in our care, offering life-changing services and support to more individuals in need. Through HIOP, we remain steadfast in our calling to provide accessible, transformative treatment rooted in Christ’s love and the truth that lasting change is always possible.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
