The Freedom Experience is a weekly support group that enables people to experience freedom, hope and life!
Our purpose is to provide a safe place for people to experience authentic spiritual community leading to freedom in Christ from life dominating struggles and strategies. The goal is real freedom—personal holiness built on personal relationships with God and others. The Freedom Experience helps you deal with the root causes of selfish behavior in your life and points you in the direction of rightly relating to God and the people He has placed in your life.
Our focus is on developing real and authentic relationships that will combat addiction and other life dominating issues through intentional connection. Essential to accomplishing this is to provide a safe environment where we honor confidentiality, avoid triggers, and do not judge or pressure each other. Groups are offered for any issue that limits freedom, hope, and life and are open to anyone. The small groups are feelings focused and discussion based. We allow crosstalk within the groups because we want to build strength and resiliency by listening to each other and giving positive feedback.
We are all on a journey, but we do not go alone. Our oneness of struggle and trauma experiences unite us. We exalt the uniqueness of each person by meeting him or her where he or she is at, which often times involves remembering where we started ourselves. As we go together, we will experience the life and freedom that God created us for by cooperating with Him as He works in us.
The FE is free to attend. However, some costs may be involved in purchasing workbooks or material we study as part of our personal growth process.
We vary in age, race, marital status, economic and educational backgrounds. You will see some people coming in dressed casually and some coming straight from work. We gather at 6:30 for fellowship and coffee before large group time begins at 7:00 p.m. In the large group, we will have worship and teaching—about 30 minutes—before breaking up into small groups of 8-12. Small groups are struggle-specific and gender-separated.
In small groups, members have the opportunity to share about their challenges as well as positive changes they are making. Facilitators will guide group members to focus on attitudes and emotions instead of simply reporting behaviors or circumstances. Members will be invited to share authentically about themselves as well as to give positive feedback to others in the group. Facilitators will keep group safe by managing time effectively so that all members have a chance to share, re-directing group members who are focused on what is going on with others instead of within themselves, and preventing advice-giving.
Large group meets from 7:00-7:30 p.m. Small groups meet from 7:30-9:00 p.m.
• It depends on the group. Open groups remain available throughout the year and newcomers or anyone unsure about joining a specific group can drop-in at any time.
• We also offer a two-week introductory group. The purpose of this First Steps Group is to introduce new members to The Freedom Experience and the ministry’s overall goals.
• After completing the two week First Steps introductory group, you will join others in a Freedom 101 small group. This group follows a 12 week curriculum to help provide personal insight and focused discussion, leading to connection and growth
