A Message from Troy

March 2026

Dear Friend,

Almost every week, I am asked the question, “Why did you start HopeQuest?” It’s a question I truly enjoy answering. The Apostle Paul captures much of the reason in these verses:

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
– 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NLT)

The truth is, the four of us who started HopeQuest did so because we wanted to share the comfort, freedom, and hope God had given us.

Hurt, especially the kind caused by our own sin or the sin of someone we love, is incredibly painful. Yet God has a way of using that hurt and pain to help us. Because of His grace, pain becomes a conduit for healing and growth. What feels like it might destroy us can actually change us for the better.

Early in our recovery journey, Melissa asked God to redeem the pain she was facing, pain for which I was the primary cause. God did just that… for both of us. As I reflect on the ministry God has entrusted to us, I am overwhelmed by His grace.

This leads me to a truth: God never wastes pain. He often allows it for His good and, ultimately, as an opportunity to share hope with others. How has God redeemed your pain for good? My prayer is that you will be transformed as you surrender your life and partner with Him in His redemptive work.

I am often asked another question about HopeQuest. While many people are surprised by its effectiveness, they wonder if there are other places like it. Truthfully, HopeQuest is different. There are not many places that do what we do. Which brings me to one of my favorite topics: What makes HopeQuest different?

In a city as large as Atlanta, where there are countless addiction treatment programs – including several that identify as Christian – it can be difficult to know where to turn for help. Yet those who experience HopeQuest quickly discover there truly is something different here. The HopeQuest Difference is more than a catchphrase. It is the unique combination of Christ-centered faith, clinically effective care, relational healing, and compassionate community that shapes everything we do.

In the months ahead, we will be sharing the distinctives that set HopeQuest apart. These approaches are intentionally designed to address the root causes of addiction and give men and their families a genuine opportunity to experience hope, freedom, and lasting life change.

This month, we are focusing on our most foundational distinctive: Christ-Centered, Clinically Effective. You can read more about this distinctive here. We look forward to inviting you into The HopeQuest Difference.

Grateful…
