A Message from Troy
June 2025
Dear Friend,
There have been two separate incidents in the past few weeks that have moved me in profound ways. The first occurred during a two-day retreat we hosted for our Board of Directors here at HopeQuest. With a new member joining, we took time to share our stories, specifically about how our lives had been impacted by God through HopeQuest. Every person in the room had been personally touched in powerful and transformative ways. We rejoiced together as we expressed how our lives and marriages had been saved through this ministry.

The second incident involves a unique experiential exercise in which every man in our residential program participates. To honor all that God has done in their lives, each man builds an altar somewhere on our 18-acre campus. This mirrors the Old Testament practice, whereby people would create altars to commemorate their encounters with God. It is a meaningful activity, and whenever our former clients return to campus, they almost always want to visit their altar.
The unexpected came last week when a client described his altar to me, asking if I had seen it. I had not, so I made sure to look for it on my way back to the office.
At first glance, I was immediately moved by what his altar represented. I know this man’s story and the profound trauma he endured, followed by years of addiction as he tried to cope with the pain. During his time at HopeQuest, he began to experience freedom and hope for the first time in his life, and his altar reflects just that. As I stood there, admiring his work, I felt my heart stir with emotion.
Thousands of individuals have been touched by God at HopeQuest, and this man is one of them! For nearly 25 years, the Lord has powerfully and undeniably transformed lives and made freedom and hope a reality for men and their families.
Reflecting on these two experiences, several things come to my mind. First is my gratitude for you. Your prayers make the transformative impact of HopeQuest’s ministry possible. As many of you know firsthand, it’s hard work helping men and their families find freedom and hope. We simply could not do it without you. Your prayers mean the world to us, and they make a profound difference.
Second is my excitement for what lies ahead. As we prepare to celebrate 25 years of walking alongside others, there are exciting plans in the works to ensure the next 25 years will be even more impactful. From our annual Celebrating Freedom event every November to the continued development of our campus, there is no doubt God is at work.
With gratitude and excitement, I want you to know how important you are to Melissa and me. This remarkable journey would not have been possible without you. We ask that you continue praying for us as God places us on your heart.
Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we ask you to pray for us. Pray that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you.
— 2 Thessalonians 3:1 (NLT)
In closing, please take a moment to look at the picture of the altar, knowing your prayers are never in vain! You are making a significant impact, and we appreciate your faithfulness… to HopeQuest and, most important, to Him through whom all blessings flow.
In Christ,
Troy Haas
