A Message from Troy
July 2025

Dear Friend,
Every summer, as Melissa and I celebrate another anniversary, I am reminded of God’s grace in our lives. June 15th marked 34 years of marriage, and we commemorated this milestone with a visit to Niagara Falls. It was a first-time experience for both of us, and we were excited to share this new adventure together.

If you have never seen the Falls in person, I highly recommend adding them to your bucket list. Words cannot adequately describe what it’s like to stand on the edge of the escarpment overlooking such breathtaking beauty. The sheer volume of water that pours over the cliffs creates a mist that envelops you, even when you are standing 160-plus feet above the river. The resounding roar fills your ears, drowning out every other sound in its vicinity. The experience is immersive and awe-inspiring.
Melissa and I enjoyed all the things we could possibly experience on our trip, and each moment was incredible. On the last morning, I went for a final walk along the riverfront to spend quiet time with God. I have always been drawn to moving water, whether a river, creek, or waterfall. It captures my attention and brings rest to my soul. Niagara Falls is on a whole other level. Its glory and grandeur make it hard to look away.
As I stood there, I was struck by the thought that this is what it’s like to be in God’s presence, completely focused on Him, surrounded by His love, and humbled by His power and majesty. How could I ever be distracted by anything less than Him? Yet, as I meditated on these thoughts while walking back to our hotel, I noticed how quickly anxiety crept in. I was already distracted by my own insecurities, shame, and regret. In that moment, I heard Him softly whisper, “Where did you go? Stay with Me.”
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
— 1 Timothy 6:12 (NIV)
This, my friend, is the good fight we face every day: to remain centered on His presence in and around us. We are so easily distracted by the noise of the world and the worries in our hearts. So many things compete for our time, attention, and affection. I pray we would take a few moments today to pause and breathe. Focus on Him. Feel His love. Listen to His voice. We were created for a life-giving connection with God.
This summer, as we experience various trials and triggers, let us not forget His glorious presence. We are never alone, and we don’t have to face the challenges of this world on our own. Our amazing God is with us.
In closing, I want to give you a glimpse of what lies ahead: Exciting news is on the horizon at HopeQuest that I can’t wait to share with you. I think you are really going to love it! Be on the lookout for an announcement soon. In the meantime, know that your prayers and support of HopeQuest are impacting lives every day. I am grateful you are walking this journey alongside us.
Prayerfully,
